About
Jun Haeng Lee is a curator and a writer based in London and Seoul, who refuses the gallery as a usual site of encounter of contemporary art.
Her practice begins with a question: what does it mean to curate from within exclusion, and to work in the blind spots that institutions structurally leave behind. Stemming from her early research on cultural hierarchies, she treats exclusion itself as material.
Who is assumed to be present, and who is assumed not to be? Rather than passively waiting for audiences to travel to galleries and museums for art, her curatorial practice situates art in non-conventional art spaces such as pubs, hospitals, and factories where people are not seen as an art audience.
She is currently completing an MA in Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art. She recently curated an exhibition CACHE: Existing in the Threshold in the Rose Battersea in London.
